Cook-ing up tunes

AMERICAN Idol winner David Cook, 25, who hails from Blue Springs, Missouri, will release his debut album on Nov 18, 2008. The first single, Light On, produced by Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock) was released on US radio and is now made available on iTunes.

Light On also premiered exclusively on AOL Music on its pop culture news site, PopEater.com.

Earlier this year, Cook had the biggest single premiere of the year on PopEater.com with The Time of My Life garnering more than one million streams in 24 hours.

Light On was co-written by one of rock music’s most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave, and acclaimed producer/songwriter Brian Howes, who has worked with superstar rock bands such as Hinder and Puddle of Mudd.

Cook has been busy in the studio with Cavallo, co-writing many of the upcoming album’s tracks alongside some of music’s hottest rock songwriters.

He also launched DavidCookOfficial.com, his official social networking site where fans can interact with him, his music and each other.

Fans can create their own profiles, make friends and contribute their own blogs, photos, videos and connect with other fans in their towns by various search functionalities. After only five days, it was already the #1 artiste site within the entire SonyBMG community.
